Cerritos : Parks Commission Planned

Share

In a community known for its open space and vast greenbelts, the City Council has decided to create a parks and recreation commission. Although specific powers and responsibilities have not been determined, the council has agreed to form a five-member panel to oversee the city’s 24 parks.

Each member of the council will appoint one person to the commission. The council is expected to outline the commission’s specific duties at its Dec. 19 meeting, city spokeswoman Michele Ogle said. The parks have been managed by the Human Affairs Department, which reports directly to the council.
