Mall Christmas Activities to Benefit Many Charities

Several Westside shopping malls are planning holiday entertainment and activities to benefit charities.

At the outdoor 3rd Street Mall in Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Alternative School Singers will perform at 1:30 p.m. today and Tuesday; the Santa Monica Emeritus College Band will play at 1 p.m. Saturday; the John Adams Madrigal Singers will present a concert at 12:30 p.m. Monday, and the fine and performing arts magnet students of Edison School will entertain at noon next Thursday.

At the Beverly Center, the New Covenant Singers of Bel-Air Presbyterian Church will present performances at 7 and 7:45 p.m. Friday; the Merrywood Singers will entertain at 1 p.m. Saturday; the Southern California Early Music Consort will play at noon Sunday; Westlake School for Girls’ Madrigals will sing at 7 and 7:45 p.m. Tuesday; the California Brass Ensemble will play at 7 p.m. next Thursday; and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles will sing at 7 and 7:45 p.m. Dec. 20.

Century City Shopping Center will present a performance of the Marine Corps Band from the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station at noon Monday in connection with the Toys for Tots drive. The Century City Chamber of Commerce has arranged for toy collection at locations in the shopping center.

The Beverly Glen Centre on Beverly Glen Circle south of Mulholland Drive in Bel-Air will present an evening of holiday festivities featuring Santa Claus and strolling musicians starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Proceeds will be donated to Make-a-Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of terminally ill children in the Los Angeles area.

The Westside Pavilion shopping center in West Los Angeles has donated a weekend’s proceeds from its gift wrap booth to Operation Santa Claus, a charity organization in Orange County that lost $10,000 worth of toys in a pre-holiday burglary.
