As both sides anxiously awaited the outcome, jurors deciding the fate of Gov. Edwin W. Edwards met for a third day Friday, then carried their deliberations into the weekend, giving no hint as to which way they might be leaning.

John Volz, the U.S. attorney who is attempting to put the flamboyant Louisiana governor in prison, said late Friday afternoon that he had heard that the jury wanted to watch the New Orleans Saints football game Sunday, raising the possibility that the verdict might not be returned this weekend.

Edwards is charged, along with three others, with 50 counts of racketeering, mail and wire fraud. A fifth man is charged with four counts of fraud.
