Mexico City Hotels

Share

I just returned from Mexico City and read the Oct. 27 article on the post-earthquake status of hotels. The article contained many errors, especially the comments about the Aristos Hotel. I stayed there Oct. 25-29. It had no visible damage. It is one of the hotels in the Zona Rosa that did not even suffer superficial damage. The Del Paseo Hotel, my favorite in Mexico City, is closed but will reopen this month. There was no structural damage, only cosmetic. The Presidente (Zona Rosa) is closed, with no date available for reopening. The Century and Kyrstal hotels are both open, but have some superficial damage. The Kyrstal was offering rooms at half the regular rate.

Despite the aftermath of the earthquake, Mexico City is functioning well. The restaurants are open and most tourist attractions can be visited without problem. I enjoyed a safe and healthy trip.
