About 40 cases of hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver caused by a virus, have appeared among Lake County residents, health workers estimate. Two state Department of Health Services epidemiologists have started a probe to track down the source of the contamination, county Health Department nurse Sandy Boorn said. The diagnosed cases were mostly in Lakeport and Kelseyville, about 80 miles north of San Francisco.
