Lomita : Computer Proposal Denied
After a lengthy debate Monday, the council rejected City Administrator Walker Ritter’s proposal to buy an IBM System 36 computer.
The council’s main concern was whether the computer has the capability to administer the city’s proposed new water district. The city will be responsible for reading meters and billing customers if it takes over the water district from Los Angeles County.
The council and the city administrator will meet with IBM representatives next week to determine what type of system would best suit the city’s needs.
