Share

The Senior Health Peer Counseling Center has received a $40,000 county grant to provide a physical and mental health program for Latino senior citizens on the Westside.

The center, at 2125 Arizona Ave., will use the funds from the county Department of Mental Health to finance its pilot program, which offers lectures and counseling sessions for elderly Latinos.

The lecture series will include discussions of physical problems, such as diabetes and arthritis, and coping with stressful situations involving personal and family relationships. The concept of peer counseling sessions will also be introduced.
