Did Maris Deserve More From Broadway Critics?
Roger Maris, in my humble opinion, never got the credit that a great, complete ballplayer should have received.
Most baseball fans think that Maris’ only accomplishment in baseball was hitting 61 home runs in 1961, but he was a consistently good hitter and excellent outfielder for the many years he played with the New York Yankees. Why he never was elected to the Hall of Fame is something I’ll never understand, especially since he was dying the past several years. Now he’ll get in--but much too late.
