Anaheim : Woman Slightly Injured by a Random Gunshot

Share

A woman suffered minor cuts on her head from an apparent random gunshot that shattered her car window on the 91 Freeway early Tuesday, Anaheim police said.

Florence Lucile Spencer, 61, of Tullahoma, Tenn., was treated for “very minor (cuts caused by) small bullet fragments to the back of the head,” Anaheim Police Sgt. Frank Vandeweerd said. Spencer was riding in a car driven by her husband, Dillon Reed Spencer, eastbound on the 91 Freeway near the 57 Freeway when a small caliber bullet shattered the right rear window, police said.

“Officers do not believe this was a sniper (attack),” Vandeweerd said. The shot may have been fired by “a person testing a Christmas gift,” he added.

Police determined that the shot was probably fired somewhere in area of Frontera and Jackson streets.

Spencer was treated at Kaiser Permanente Hospital and released. Police are investigating the case as an assault with a deadly weapon, Vandeweerd said.
