Cerritos : Library Wing Overdue
A 20,000-square-foot addition to the Cerritos Public Library should be completed and open by late February, 1986, officials said. The new east wing, a split-level design, will more than double the size of the library next to the Civic Center on 183rd Street.
The $3.6-million expansion was to be finished in December, but bad weather delayed the project by three to four weeks, said city spokeswoman Michele Ogle.
The ground level of the wing will house the reference desk, lounge seating and an extensive magazine area. Upstairs there will be another reading lounge, 29 cubicles, two private study rooms and a collection of books in a variety of foreign languages.
Ogle said the entire library will be closed for several days in mid-February as crews move books and equipment into the wing.
