Downey : District Seeks Comments
The public and school personnel are invited to comment next week on qualities sought in a new superintendent for the Downey Unified School District.
Supt. Manuel Gallegos, who heads the 13,000-student district, will retire March 1.
The comments will be used by consultant Elaine Boyce, who has been hired by the school board to assist in the screening process, in preparing a profile of the kind of superintendent the school board and community is seeking. Applications for the position are being accepted through Feb. 14.
Those wishing to comment should make an appointment by calling (213) 861-1267. Boyce will hear comments between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the district board room and Wednesday in the Green Room of the Downey Theater.
