PCAA Roundup : UNLV Defeats Utah State in Two Overtimes
Freddie Banks scored 7 of his 30 points in the second overtime Thursday night to lift Nevada Las Vegas to a 100-94 double-overtime victory over Utah State in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. opener at Las Vegas.
Banks sent the game into a second overtime with a three-point basket with 31 seconds left in the first overtime, tying the score at 88-88.
Two free throws by Jeff Anderson of Utah State with 11 seconds left in regulation tied the game at 78-78, prompting the first overtime.
Armon Gilliam added 22 points and 22 rebounds for Nevada Las Vegas (12-2 overall).
Greg Grant led Utah State (4-6) with 36 points.
Last year, on the same date, the Rebels and Aggies played three overtimes with UNLV scoring a 142-140 victory.
UOP 75, UC Santa Barbara 73--Kyle Pepple made four free throws in the final 29 seconds, and University of Pacific overcame a 10-point second-half deficit to win a PCAA opener at Santa Barbara.
