Look for more of Placido Domingo on the big screen after Franco Zeffirelli’s currently shooting “Otello” gets its U.S. release this spring. At a recent dinner in honor of the opera star, Cannon Films co-owner Menahem Golan announced that Domingo would follow with another opera film, either “The Merry Widow” or “Die Fledermaus.”

Domingo, who started his career 20 years ago with the now-defunct Israel National Opera Company, was in Tel Aviv from Crete, where he has been filming “Otello.”
