About $200 million that has accumulated as uncommitted funds in the State Highway Account will be spent on state highway projects, state Transportation Director Leo Trombatore said. The spending was ordered by Gov. George Deukmejian, he said, and will cover a range of projects. Deukmejian has also directed the department to loan $125 million from the account to support construction and improvement of local streets and roads in California, Trombatore added.
