Newport Beach : 3-County Office to Be Opened by Sen. Wilson

U.S. Sen. Pete Wilson will open a new office in Newport Beach next week that will serve Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, a member of his staff said Monday.

Scott Hart, who will be the only paid member of Wilson’s staff in the new office, said the senator would be on hand Jan. 16 to formally open the office at 840 Newport Center Drive, his fifth in the state. Wilson presently has offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Fresno and San Diego.

Hart said the opening of the office is an example of Wilson’s recognition of Orange County as a separate social and economic entity from Los Angeles. “Because of the enormous growth in population in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, we recognized the need to have someone that can assist them at the federal level,”he said.

Hart said the office will be responsible for assisting constituents in solving problems with the federal government, monitoring local concerns about federal legislation, and working with civic and community organizations to keep Wilson informed about local developments.
