Marilyn Klinghoffer, whose husband was killed during the hijacking last year of the Achille Lauro cruise ship, has been talking to producers about selling her story for a television movie or serial, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

“We’ve met with a number of independent producers and major studios to discuss their offers and see what the chemistry is like,” said the spokeswoman, Letty Simon. “The general consensus is that television is the best medium for the story.

“This is not a crass commercial thing,” Simon said. “(Mrs. Klinghoffer) doesn’t want to be a public figure, but she feels the story should be told.”

Leon Klinghoffer, who was confined to a wheelchair, was killed by Palestinian terrorists who seized the cruise ship in the Mediterranean. His body later washed ashore in Lebanon.
