Whittier : Trustee to Lead State Group
Joe Durado, a trustee in the South Whittier School District, has become the first Latino elected president of the 6,000-member California School Boards Assn. He was elected at the organization’s annual meeting in December in San Francisco.
Durado, a research scientist for Xerox, has been a member of the South Whittier Board of Education since 1974. Durado said his top priority will be to secure more money for California’s 1,043 school districts.
