Sixteen Mexican Indians who are trying to walk from Mexico City to Los Angeles were waiting today in Juarez for permission from U.S. immigration officials to enter the United States.

Immigration officials said only three of the 16 have the identification needed for a visa and the others would have to come up with a $1,000 bond in order for the government to waive visas. The Indians have already walked 1,100 miles from Mexico City and were hoping to reach Los Angeles before Feb. 23, the birthday of Cuauhtemoc, last of the Aztec rulers.
