Axon to Head L. A. Chapter of Architects

Donald C. Axon, a specialist in health facilities planning and principal in his own Los Angeles-based architectural firm, will be installed as the new president of the Los Angeles chapter, American Institute of Architects on Saturday at the chapter’s annual installation dinner at the Wilshire Country Club.

Other new officers include Cyril Chern, vice president and president-elect for 1987; Richard Appel, secretary, and Robert Harris, treasurer for a second term. Heidi Moore will be installed as president of the Women’s Architectural League.

Directors for 1986 are Mark Hall, immediate past president; Fernando Juarez, John Mutlow, Barton Phelps, Robert Reed, Larry Robbins, president of the San Fernando Valley section; Norma Sklarek and Chester Widon. Other directors are R.D. McDonnell, associates; and Heidi Moore, WAL.

Axon, a native of Haddonfield, N.J., received a bachelor of architecture degree from Pratt Institute and a master’s degree from Columbia University. He formed his own firm in 1980, having worked for Caudil Rowlett Scott in Houston, for Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Los Angeles, and for Daniel Mann Johnson & Mendenhall in Los Angeles as director of its medical facilities group.
