3 Suspects in Murder Captured

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. — Three suspects were taken into custody today after a massive manhunt for the killers of an off-duty San Diego County Sheriff’s Department trainee.

The three were caught between 3:40 a.m. and 7:42 a.m. in an unincorporated area on the southern border of San Diego. The suspects were not identifed, but they reportedly matched the descriptions of men who shot Kelly A. Bazer, 28. Bazer was wearing her trainee’s uniform but was not armed when she was shot in the back by gunmen who stole her car and sped away from a market that had been robbed. She died shortly afterward at Grossmont Hospital.
