Southern California Gas Co. service employees have been directed to watch for elderly residents who may need special medical, financial or other help, especially during the winter months. Gas company Vice President Mike Neiggemann said assistance may include summoning paramedics or referring an apparently destitute person to a local agency that is able to provide meals, clothing or help in paying utility bills.
