Cerritos : Ramps for Disabled Added
With the completion of sidewalk improvements on four Cerritos streets, every intersection in the city is now equipped with ramps for the disabled.
Sidewalks and access ramps were recently built on Norwalk Boulevard under the Artesia Freeway and on Studebaker Road under the 605 Freeway. At the same time, ramps were completed on Del Amo Boulevard at the 605 Freeway and on Carmenita Road at the Artesia Freeway.
While not required by law to install access ramps at existing intersections, the council decided to go back and add them at all corners for safety reasons, city spokeswoman Michele Ogle said. The cost of the most recent work was about $42,000.
