Santa Monica : Parking Zones Created
The Santa Monica City Council voted Tuesday to create one new preferential parking zone and consider two others after residents complained that too many non-residents were parking on streets in their neighborhoods.
The council added Preferential Parking Zone F--on Hill and Raymond streets between Lincoln Boulevard and 7th Street--to the municipal code after receiving petitions favoring the plan from more than two-thirds of the area’s residents.
The council also directed the city attorney to draft legislation creating the other two zones after receiving petitions from residents of both areas. One would encompass 31st, 32nd, 33rd and 34th streets between Ocean Park Boulevard and Pearl Street and the other would cover the 700 block of 15th Street.
The zones allow residents who purchase $15 permits to park on their streets beyond the two-hour limits imposed by the city between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
