PCAA Roundup : Jones Scores 31 to Lead Rebels

Anthony Jones scored 31 points to lead 10th-ranked Nevada Las Vegas past UC Santa Barbara, 79-65, Thursday night at Santa Barbara.

Jones made 12 of 18 shots, including 5 of 7 from three-point range.

The game was tied, 34-34, at halftime, but the Rebels (15-2 overall and 5-0 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn.) went on a 22-8 burst in the second half to break away.

Fred Banks had 15 points for the Rebels, and Armon Gilliam added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Scott Fisher had 20 points and 9 rebounds for Santa Barbara (7-8 and 2-4).

New Mexico State 72, Pacific 57--Gilbert Wilburn had 21 points and eight rebounds as the Aggies won their sixth straight game by beating the Tigers at Las Cruces, N.M.

The Aggies (10-3 and 4-0) led, 38-32 at halftime, and pulled away with a 13-1 burst midway through the second half.

Rich Anema scored 18 points for Pacific (9-8 and 2-4).
