Besieged Fugitive Takes Girl Hostage, Kills Self

CINCINNATI — A man wanted for murder held a 4-year-old girl at gunpoint for four hours in a public housing complex, then shot himself to death while police negotiators were trying to persuade him to surrender. The girl was rescued unharmed.
Police said they surprised Mark Lindsay Jones, 25, of Cincinnati, Friday in the apartment of a woman with whom he had been staying. It was the woman’s daughter who was taken hostage, police said.
