Hollywood : Director to Receive Star

Pioneer film director Dorothy Arzner will be honored posthumously with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in a ceremony starting at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Arzner directed 17 films over 16 years, including Paramount Pictures’ first sound movie, “The Wild Part,” in 1929, which starred Clara Bow and Frederic March. Arzner died in 1979.

The ceremony, which will be held at 1500 N. Vine St., near the corner of Sunset Boulevard, will be attended by actress and director Lee Grant, director Robert Wise and Paramount President Dawn Steel.
