Hawaii Beats SDSU, 83-80
Anthony Watson scored a career-high 34 points Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough as San Diego State dropped an 83-80 overtime decision to Hawaii in Honolulu.
The Aztecs, who trailed through most of the second half, tied the score at 72-72 on two free throws by Bobby Owens with 20 seconds left.
The loss was a big blow to the Aztecs’ Western Athletic Conference title chances as they dropped to 4-3 in conference and 5-12 overall. Hawaii is 1-6 in conference and 4-14 overall.
It was the Aztecs’ third overtime game and loss of the season--all on the road.
