Pacific 10 Roundup : Arizona Beats Oregon St. at OT Buzzer, 63-62

Craig McMillan picked up a loose ball and sank a layup at the buzzer to give Arizona a 63-62 overtime victory over Oregon State in a Pacific 10 Conference game Thursday night at Tucson, Ariz.

Oregon State (8-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference) was ahead, 62-61, with three seconds left when Arizona’s Steve Kerr lofted a pass from underneath the Wildcat basket to the Beavers’ free-throw line.

Several players leaped for the ball, but it bounced to McMillan under the basket, and his shot gave Arizona (13-5, 4-1) its 13th straight victory at McKale Center this season.

Oregon State blew a five-point lead with 1:10 remaining in regulation, and McMillan, who had 16 points, sent the game into overtime at 55-55 on a 20-foot jumper with 12 seconds left.

Darrin Houston scored 23 points for the Beavers; John Edgar scored 20 for Arizona.

Arizona State 76, Oregon 58--Bobby Thompson scored 17 points, and Tarre Isiah got 10 of his 14 in a lopsided first half as the Sun Devils snapped a three-game losing streak by trouncing the Ducks at Tempe, Ariz.

Isiah scored his 10 points in the first 6:37 of the game to give the Sun Devils (8-8, 2-4) an early 14-6 lead that grew to 35-17 at halftime.

Oregon (6-11, 1-6) made just 8 of 24 field-goal attempts in the first half, going 6:23 between points at one stage.

Thompson took over and scored 13 points as Arizona State rolled to a 63-44 lead with 3:57 left.
