An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg by an intruder who barged into his apartment and demanded money, police said Saturday.
Sgt. Michael Gray said the unknown intruder broke into the apartment at 517 E. Sycamore Ave. shortly after 7 p.m. Friday. When resident Jaime Hernandez said he had no money, the intruder fired and fled, Gray said. Two other roommates at home at the time were not injured.
Hernandez was in satisfactory condition Saturday at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The intruder was described as a bearded Latino in his late 20s, about 5 feet 7 and 150 pounds with light brown hair, Gray said.
