Steve Rogers, who won more games than any other pitcher for the Montreal Expos, announced his retirement after 12 years in the major leagues.

Rogers won 158 and lost 151 in 12 years with the Expos before he was released early last season by the Angels after being bothered by shoulder trouble. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox but was unable to pitch his way back into the majors.

Unfortunately, Rogers will be remembered most for allowing Rick Monday’s ninth-inning home run in final game of the 1981 National League championship series to give the Dodgers the pennant, 2-1.
