The theft of more than a dozen infectious needles, some contaminated with the hepatitis-B virus, from a medical technician’s car prompted a warning by Los Angeles police. The 15 needles, contained in a red plastic box with the label Winfield-Sharps Tainer, were stolen from the trunk of the car over the weekend, Detective Richard Thoreson said. The needles were used to take blood samples from infected patients.
