Two UC Irvine players were eliminated from singles qualifying Wednesday in the Women’s Intercollegiate Invitational tennis championships at the Riveriera Tennis Club.
Irvine’s Dina Trenwith was beaten in the third round by Edna Olivarez, 6-4, 6-1. Trenwith’s sister, Lola, made it to the fourth round before losing to Carrie Hagey of Stanford, 7-5, 7-6, in a match that was delayed five times because of rain. Lola Trenwith won her third-round match earlier in the day, beating Cristin Leverte of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 6-2, 6-0.
Stephanie Rhorer, the Anteaters’ No. 1 player, will be Irvine’s only representative in the main singles draw, which begins today.
Rain postponed doubles action Wednesday. The UCI doubles team of Lola Trenwith and Colleen Patton will attempt to qualify for the main draw today.
