AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: While Duluth is awaiting word, Dylan is finishing up rehearsals with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for a six-week tour of Japan, Australia and New Zealand, beginning Wednesday in New Zealand. The concert format is still being worked out, but it’s expected that the Heartbreakers will play a mini-set of their own material during the show. Plans for an American version of the tour are still up in the air, but sources close to the two camps say it’s a strong possibility. . . . Meanwhile, Petty and Dylan have been asked to write a song together for “Band of the Hand,” a Tri-Star film due out in April about a group of hard-core delinquents. (The film’s executive producer is “Miami Vice’s” Michael Mann.) . . . Bob Seger’s album “American Storm,” originally slated for release last Christmas, is now due out in March. . . . Queen (whose current single, “One Vision,” is in the film “Iron Eagle”) is now doing the score for “Highlander,” a 20th Century Fox film due in March that co-stars Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert. . . . Thomas Dolby has signed on to do the score for “Howard the Duck,” a comedy based on the Marvel Comics character that is due out this summer. . . . Act of Faith, a new, improved version of local-faves the Brat (featuring singer Therese Covarrubias), make their L.A. debut Friday at the Anti-Club. . . . And Foreigner’s Mick Jones is keeping busy, helping producing the new Van Halen album.
