Two police officers investigating a shot fired through a North Hollywood apartment house window narrowly missed being hit by a second shot, authorities said.
Michael Ruby, 30, who lives in an apartment building on Hazelhurst Place, next to the one from which the shots came, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder about 10 p.m. Monday, Lt. Ron La Rue of the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Jose Lamos, 29, called police after a shot was fired into his living room. A second shot fired through the window passed between Officers Luis Corona and Robert Peterson, who were standing near it. Neither was injured.
Police searched Ruby’s apartment and found a .22-caliber handgun and an expended shell on the floor in front of the window, La Rue said. Ruby told the officers that shots had been fired at him earlier, La Rue said.
Ruby was being held without bail Tuesday at Van Nuys Jail.
