South Bay : Water Firm Gets Rate Hike
The state Public Utilities Commission has granted Dominguez Water Co., which serves customers in Torrance, Carson, Long Beach and parts of Los Angeles, a 3% increase in rates to offset the company’s higher costs. A commission spokeswoman said there will be no increase for the first 300 cubic feet of water used per month, but after that amount the price will go up 2.7 cents per 100 cubic feet, or 748 gallons, of water. The rate increase will not affect the company’s 14.5% profit margin, the spokeswoman said.
