The federal biologist who exposed agricultural pollution at Kesterson National Wildlife Refuge said he is being forced out of his job in retaliation. Felix Smith, a 29-year veteran of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said he has been ordered to close his Sacramento office and accept temporary reassignment to Portland for the next four months. Smith said he believes that his job is being abolished because he gave copies of his work on selenium-caused deaths among animals at Kesterson to a Fresno newspaper.
