Local News in Brief : 10 Hurt in 2 Accidents on Hollywood Freeway

Ten people were injured, one of them seriously, in two separate accidents Saturday on the Hollywood Freeway in the San Fernando Valley, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

A 13-year-old boy underwent surgery at Childrens Hospital in Hollywood after a 9:30 a.m. three-car accident near Barham Boulevard, Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson said. The boy, who suffered facial lacerations, was in stable condition Saturday night, a nursing supervisor said.

Two adults hurt in the same accident were treated at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital for minor injuries, a nursing supervisor said.

In the second accident, seven people were hurt in North Hollywood when eight vehicles piled up in southbound lanes just south of Riverside Drive at 11 a.m., Williamson said.

The injured were taken to Sherman Oaks Community Hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and the Medical Center of North Hollywood, Williamson said.
