Planning Board Seeks Revisions in Santa Monica Hotel-Office Plan

Share

The Santa Monica Planning Commission has asked its staff to draw up recommendations it approved Monday night to revise a proposed 7-story, 255-room hotel and retail office building planned for the 4th Street site now occupied by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District’s administrative headquarters.

Ann Siracusa, Santa Monica’s planning director, said the commission asked the developers to consider changes to improve traffic circulation and parking. The commission also requested a study on the shadow the building would cast on the nearby Santa Monica High School athletic field, she said.

The commission set March 3 for its next hearing on the plan, a joint project of the school district and developers, Midis Properties Inc. and City Developers Inc., both of Westlake.

The district has agreed to a long-term lease of the site at an annual rent of $1 million.
