Manhattan Beach : Bike Path Plans Scrapped
- Share via
The City Council has abandoned plans for a bike path along the eastern boundary of the Manhattan Village residential project between Marine and Rosecranz avenues after TRW Inc. decided not to contribute a five-foot strip of land to the project.
The aerospace firm cited concerns about security and possible vandalism that might arise from the use of the bike path. City officials said the remaining five feet adjoining the village was not wide enough for safe use by bicyclists.
Mo Tidemanis, a spokesman for Chevron Land Co., which owns the property on which the village is built, told the council last week that his firm will plant trees and grass on the remaining strip.
