Brea : Meeting Held on Plans for New High School

The city’s redevelopment agency met with school district board members in a special joint meeting Tuesday to discuss concerns about the district’s plan for a new high school.

Suggestions and comments about potential parking problems and joint use of the facilities were the main points of discussion, Brea-Olinda School District Supt. Ed Seal said. The new school will be built on a site east of the Orange Freeway, off Lambert Road.

The City Council is lending $3 million to the school district to help finance the project, so its concerns are legitimate, Seal said. Suggestions made at the meeting will be discussed with architects to ensure that maximum use of the facility by both the city and the school can be achieved, he added.

Seal said the school district’s increase in enrollment of 50 to 60 students per year for the last three years had demonstrated the need for the school, which is scheduled to open in 1988.
