Motorist Killed: A Cerritos man was killed when he apparently fell asleep while driving east on Cerritos Avenue Wednesday morning and struck a utility pole. Richard T. Wakimara, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering head and chest injuries in the crash, which occurred about 1:50 a.m., said Sgt. Larry Bandy. No other cars were involved and Wakimara was the only person in the Volkswagen Beetle.
