Theismann Fan Club Seeking New Members

You must print articles sometimes just to annoy people. I am having my morning coffee and trying not to scream, reading the article on Joe Theismann. This guy is amazing. Who does he think he is? Talk about dumb! Jim McMahon and the Bears put football back into the hearts and televisions of Americans.

Theismann says, “McMahon has a lack of respect for the rules of life as a professional athlete.” Joe thinks he is a bad role model for our youth. I would rather have my son emulate a wild guy like McMahon than a person who leaves his wife and three children for a TV personality and then flaunts it in the press.

Just when he has a lot of public sympathy for getting his leg broken, he makes the mistake of sounding off again. Maybe Lawrence Taylor should aim for the mouth next time.

Viewpoint received about two dozen letters on the Theismann-McMahon affair, all expressing similar points of view. Theismann, of course, later apologized for his remarks.
