Bengals Play Packers in Exhibition Opener
The Cincinnati Bengals have announced they will play two 1986 exhibition games at home and two on the road, opening the home exhibition schedule with an Aug. 23 game against the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers are coached by Forrest Gregg, who was Cincinnati’s head coach from 1980 through 1983 before he left to take the Green Bay head coaching job. It will be Gregg’s first visit to Riverfront Stadium’s playing turf since he left the Bengals. Sam Wyche, Cincinnati’s current head coach, succeeded Gregg.
The Bengals’ other home preseason game will be with the Detroit Lions on Aug. 29. Cincinnati’s road exhibition games are against the Kansas City Chiefs on Aug. 9 and against the New York Jets on Aug. 16. All of the exhibitions are night games.
