Davis-Fiedler Contretemps

Upon reading the results of your Fiedler-Davis poll (Feb. 6), I find it very interesting that Ed Davis also seems to be suffering from the effects of the “messy affair.”
This case is a classic example of “innocent until proven guilty,” and a perfect example of the power of the press. Thanks to you, each of us has had the opportunity to hear every ugly word. I’m not suggesting that you’re wrong to report the findings; only that in the case of this impending election, you’re also helping us decide who to vote for.
I found particularly amusing your statements: “Generally, Republicans did not have the foggiest notion whom they should nominate in the June primary election to face Cranston in November.” “Everyone surveyed by The Times poll ultimately was reminded of her legal troubles by the interviewers.”
Well, you’ve just heard from one Republican who prefers to let this case be tried in the courts, and make her decision when the verdict comes in.
