San Diego State Women Beaten by Pacific, 102-75

With two of their top players in San Diego nursing injuries, the San Diego State women fell to host University of the Pacific, 102-75, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. matchup Thursday night.

The Aztecs were without Jessica Haynes, their leading scorer who is out with an injured right knee, and Shelda Arceneaux, their leading rebounder who sprained her right ankle in Monday’s game at Long Beach. That left San Diego State with a primarily inexperienced squad.

Freshman guard Brooke Meadows took up the slack left by Arceneaux’s absence, grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 9 points, but it wasn’t enough for SDSU (5-7 in conference play, 12-14 overall).

UOP, which dominated throughout, had five players in double figures. Janet Whitney paced the Tigers with 28 points and Prim Walters added 18. SDSU had four players in double figures, including Deedee Duncan, who scored 19, and Pat Rice, who had 17.
