Lazers Win at Baltimore, 5-4, on Ion’s Late Goal

BALTIMORE — Greg Ion scored with 42 seconds left Friday night to give the Los Angeles Lazers a 5-4 victory over the Baltimore Blast in a Major Indoor Soccer League game.
The Lazers, 11-21 and last in the Western Division, broke a seven-game losing streak and improved their road record to 3-14.
Ion, who tied the game at 3-3 with 10:42 left in the fourth quarter, also assisted on a goal by George Fernandez with 4:06 left to tie the game at 4-4.
The loss was a severe blow to the Blast, which was trying to hold on to a slim lead in the Eastern Division. The loss dropped Baltimore to 19-14 and stretched its losing streak to three games.
Lazer goalkeeper Mike Mahoney had 16 saves.
