UCI Women Beat Utah in Tennis Tournament
On the strength of five singles wins, the UC Irvine women’s tennis team defeated the University of Utah, 6-3, Sunday afternoon in Brigham Young University’s round-robin tournament.
The Anteaters (8-7) won only one of three doubles matches.
Haruko Shigekawa, the No. 2 singles player, defeated Marcia Foote, 6-1, 6-3; No. 3 Stephanie Rhorer beat Pam Miller 6-1, 6-1, and No. 4 Kathy Rose defeated Jill Collett, 6-3, 7-5.
UC Irvine plays Iowa today in the final match.
