Fountain Valley : City Seeks Membership in Insurance Cooperative

Share

Fountain Valley is one of many cities struggling to find reasonable insurance rates, and city officials may have found a solution.

A Los Angeles-based insurance cooperative of about 50 cities will vote Wednesday on whether to allow Fountain Valley to join its membership. If membership is approved, city officials said, Fountain Valley will join the Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (SCJPIA), instead of renewing with Cal-Surance, the city’s present broker. The city’s insurance policy expires March 1, and premiums have been rising.
