A 24-year-old man who allegedly robbed a Westminster gas station attendant of $636 was arrested with the help of a witness, police said Wednesday.
An attendant at the Arco station at 14501 Brookhurst St. was held up about 8 p.m. Tuesday by a man who indicated he had a weapon and demanded money, police said.
According to Officer Bob Amren, an unidentified bystander saw the thief flee in a white pickup truck and described it to authorities.
On the basis of the description, a 1960 pickup was stopped minutes later at Beach Boulevard and Westminster Avenue in Westminster. The driver, James Scott Costello of Westminster, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and booked into Orange County Jail, Amren said.
