Some Fans Didn’t Show Bubka Common Courtesy?

At the track meet at the Forum last Friday, as Sergei Bubka was to attempt the indoor record in the pole vault, he requested complete silence during the run. Instead of showing the athlete common courtesy, almost half of the spectators, on hearing the plea from the announcer, jeered at Bubka’s request.

This showed extremely poor taste. This was the first time I truly felt ashamed and embarrassed for my country. We appear to the rest of world as crude. As a nation of immigrants, it is our duty to respect other peoples.
